Sixty years have passed since Sean Connery debuted the gentleman spy on screen for the first Eon-produced Bond film: Dr. First debuting in the novel Casino Royale in 1953, Fleming’s international super-spy was to become a bastion of masculinity for many, as well as one of the most famous fictional characters of all time. ![]() ![]() The author spent hours each day boozing, womanising and taking dips in the ocean. For better and worse, Ian Fleming was an awful lot like his fictional creation James Bond.
